Philosophy
At the Dental Design Studio we want to make sure you understand the reasons why we have developed this unique practice. After all, if you don't know what we believe and how we approach dentistry, how can you truly decide if we're the right dental practice for you?
At your first visit to the Dental Design Studio, we will take time to listen to your needs and find out what you are looking for in a dental office. Also, we will explain to you how we approach providing care and the reasoning behind our philosophy. Our philosophy covers 4 basic areas:
Comfort
We believe that you should be able to receive care with the least amount of stress possible. We will provide you with effective and safe ways to help you relax and even enjoy receiving dental care. And if you ever need to have treatment, we feel that your teeth should function normally and without discomfort. We will provide you with the highest quality dental care available today and deliver it in such a way that will reduce or eliminate pain.
Investment
High-quality dental care is an investment of time and money. Whenever we design treatment, we do it in such a way as to avoid more extensive problems in the future. We believe that preventive dentistry is the most valuable care you can receive. We will recommend treatment that will protect your oral health and take care of problems before they require more of your time and money.
Health
Modern dentistry is developing at warp speed! The advancements in dental knowledge are teaching us that any disease present in your teeth and gums is not just isolated to your mouth, but is also traveling throughout your bloodstream into your major organs. We believe that you deserve to know the implications of dental disease on your overall health. We will provide you with treatment that will improve your general health and reduce the risk of many chronic or even fatal diseases.
Appearance
With the dramatic developments in modern dental technology, there is no reason why you shouldn't have a beautiful smile that fits your unique character. Cosmetic dentistry has become one of the most often requested services in our field. We feel that you have the right to know how to enhance your beauty, build self-confidence and increase your self-esteem with the best aesthetic dentistry available today. We will continue to stay current with the most recent advancements in aesthetic dentistry to be able to provide you with a healthy, beautiful and affordable smile that will last a lifetime.
Meet Dr. Parker
Thank you for visiting our website. My team and I hope that you will find the information here informative, interesting and exciting! Yes, I did say "exciting"! Modern dentistry is changing at warp speed and I feel privileged to be part of this profession at such an amazing time in its development. When I graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1981, I expected that I would have a career of "drill and fill" dentistry--spending my days finding decay, cleaning it out and plugging it up. That was how most people, including dentists, saw the profession at that time. And as a matter of fact, that is the kind of dentistry I did for the first 20 years of my career, throughout the time I practiced in San Antonio, Seattle and even here in Santa Fe.
However, after more than 2 decades of standard, general dentistry, I was finding it difficult to maintain a true interest in the profession. Throughout my career, I've been very interested in cosmetic dentistry and have taken numerous continuing education courses to further my skills in bonding and adhesion dentistry. So when I took the Advanced Aesthetics course at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) a few years ago, I had no idea how my practice, and my life, would change.
The timing was perfect because at the time I was in the process of designing a new office, and with that I envisioned a change in how I would approach the kind of care that my team and I provide. Fortunately, LVI had everything we needed to begin this wonderful transition into utilizing the amazing knowledge and technology we have available to us in 21st century dentistry.
In the fall of 2003, we opened the Dental Design Studio in the Galisteo Center Office Park. Our goal in creating this practice has been to provide the highest quality dental care available today, in an atmosphere of comfort and luxury. After all, if dentistry has changed so dramatically then we need to change your impression of what it means to go to the dental office. It's no longer the case that dentistry is something that should be excruciating and stressful. Our goal at the Dental Design Studio is to have you leave our office healthier, looking fabulous, and feeling as pampered as you would if you had been to a spa! It's no longer acceptable just to keep your teeth healthy ... we can change lives!
I know that sounds amazing, but it's true. On television 'makeover' shows, the most dramatic part of each episode is when someone's new smile is revealed. With the recent advancements in knowledge and technology, there's no reason why everyone shouldn't have a healthy, beautiful smile that will last a lifetime.
Personally, the rewards I experience now are feelings that I couldn't have imagined when I graduated from dental school in 1981. High quality cosmetic dentistry truly changes the way people feel about themselves and how they live their lives. My team and I beam with pride each time we hear someone say that their new smile is better than anything they could have imagined, or that they were able to get a new job or renew a fading relationship because of their newfound confidence and improved appearance. And we consider it a special privilege to work with people who suffer chronic pain from TMJ or malocclusion disease, and who tell us about feeling immediate relief after decades of unrelenting pain.
Needless to say, when I go to work each day now, I'm excited and passionate about what my team and I are able to achieve. I have a wonderful group of people with whom I work and who are equally excited about dentistry, and we are lucky to have some of the best "guests" that a dental practice could have.
Please browse through our website and feel free to contact us if you want more information or would like to make an appointment. I hope that we'll get to meet you sometime soon.
