Many people avoid dental care because of their fear. We believe this is tragic; especially considering that now dentistry can be delivered comfortably.
At the Dental Design Studio, we take the anxiety about receiving care, ‘Dental Phobia’, very seriously. Our advanced training in Conscious Sedation allows you to receive dental treatment comfortably and safely.
Imagine not being afraid of the dentist!
What is Conscious Sedation?
Enteral (Oral) Conscious Sedation utilizes the latest medications to help you relax and receive dental care comfortably. Conscious Sedation produces an ‘amnesiac’ effect for most people. Since it is very important for Dr. Parker to communicate with you, your level of consciousness is constantly regulated throughout your treatment, you just don’t remember it!
Is Conscious Sedation safe?
Unlike other dentists, Dr. Parker has received extensive training in Conscious Sedation and is an active member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS).
To become a member of DOCS, Dr. Parker completed advanced training in the principles of pharmacology and drug interactions of sedative medication as well as managing medical emergencies. Because of this specialized training, Dr. Parker has a higher level of licensure by the State of New Mexico to administer this specialized form of sedation.
Throughout your treatment, our highly trained clinicians monitor your status with state-of-the-art equipment, to make sure that you are safe.
What can I expect when having dental treatment while being sedated?
After going over the proper instructions of how to prepare for the appointment, we will get you set up with a monitor to check your vitals throughout the appointment. Having taken the oral sedative before the appointment, you will already be starting to get relaxed and a little sleepy. During the treatment, we use the typical local anesthetics to numb up the areas being treated. Dr. Parker will be constantly evaluating your level of sedation so that you are completely comfortable.
Your level of sedation will be timed and managed by Dr. Parker to coincide with the length of the procedure(s). By the time we are completing the treatment you will be “waking up”. We will be in contact with the person providing transportation so that you will have a safe ride home.
Our sedation patients are always amazed that they can get through a dental appointment without the fear and anxiety that they have always known. There is no reason why everyone can’t enjoy receiving comfortable dental care now that we have sedation dentistry to offer.
